So who will be teaching the Creative Writing Course?
Let me introduce myself:- I’m Kevin Gill. I qualified to teach in Higher Education (PgCHE) . So I taught Master’s level students at University. But don’t let that put you off, because I have also taught in Secondary Education at a variety of levels of ability.
As an academic I published several times in medical science and nutrition journals. And then I left the dark-side (?) and found myself in Creative Writing Courses where I began to write my first work of fiction: ‘Revenge’. It is a crime thriller set in New Zealand. I published through Amazon, where it is available for purchase, along with a Kindle version.
I took a playwriting course at the Queens Theatre. Tutored by Philip Ayckbourn. My play ‘Uncoupled’ was a winner at their WriteNight competition.
Script writing courses followed at City Academy, and my movie script ‘Toxic’ was born. The Wallachia Film Festival, Romania advise me that I am a finalist. My TV drama ‘Motel’ received positive revues from Kudos Films. They tell me that my style is “Kaufmanesque” (look that one up).
So what will you get from the course:- Firstly I will make the content easy to understand without lots of unnecessary jargon. We will start with the basics and slowly move along to end with something that you can publish. Secondly I will use a variety of mediums to teach:- PowerPoint on the screen; Flip chart; scripts and books and group work. I will take you from short-story writing, through how to write a novel, and scriptwriting (if you want). “And then what do I do with my work?” you may ask. Well we will cover getting an agent or publisher; entering competitions. Using software that is a requirement of getting work accepted.
The 8 session, 32 hour course is priced at £249.00. The deposit to secure a place on the course is £50. Places on the course are very limited. We want to keep the numbers low to ensure a great learning environment.
